The biographies come from two biographical dictionaries: al-Laknawi’s (d. 1304/1887) al-Fawāʾid al-bahiyya fī tarājim al-Ḥanafiyya (Cairo 1324) and Ibn Abi al-Wafa al-Qurashi’s (d. 775/1373) al-Jawāhir al-muḍiyya fī ṭabaqāt al-Ḥanafiyya. Every jurist of al-Fawāʾid has a page of their own; the names found only in al-Jawāhir link to their entry in the book. The readings of those names and their years of death were made automatically and may be wrong. Dates are given as Hijri/Gregorian.
