قرأ على قاسم الشهير بقاضي زاده وبلغ رتبة الفضل والكمال وصار مدرسا بمدينة روسا ثم بإحدى المدارس الثمان بقسطنطينية وله حواش على شرح المفتاح للسيد وحاشية على باب الشهيد من شرح الوقاية ونظم النسفية وقصائد عربية وغير ذلك مات سنة اثنين وعشرين وتسعمائة وله أخ اسمه جعفر جلبى ذو اليد الطولي في الإنشاء جعله السلطان بايزيد خان موقعا بالديوان العالي
